Katy Toohey

Katy joined the Cheshire Physioactive team in early 2023, following an accomplished 38-year career as a Registered Mental Health Nurse within the NHS.

Throughout her nursing career, Katy gained extensive clinical experience across both hospital and community settings, supporting patients with a wide range of needs. In her final NHS role, she was Lead Nurse within a Street Triage Team, working alongside the police to respond to individuals experiencing mental health crises. This demanding role required exceptional communication skills, sound clinical judgement and the ability to remain calm, compassionate and reassuring in complex and challenging situations.

Katy brings this considerable experience to her role as Client Care Coordinator at Cheshire Physioactive. Her mental health nursing background gives her an exceptional understanding of the importance of listening, empathy and clear communication. Her calm and reassuring approach helps patients feel comfortable and supported, while her experience and insight also make her a valued source of support to colleagues across the practice.

Alongside her patient-facing role, Katy has responsibility for coordinating our insurance billing, liaising directly with insurance companies and patients to ensure authorisations, invoicing and associated administration are managed accurately and efficiently. Her outstanding organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail are invaluable in ensuring this often-complex area of the practice runs smoothly.

Katy’s combination of extensive healthcare experience, compassion, professionalism and exceptional organisational ability makes her a tremendous asset to both our patients and the wider Cheshire Physioactive team.

Outside of work, Katy enjoys walking and reading and is also something of a word-game expert!
