Helen Owen
Physiotherapist
BSc HCPC
Helen graduated from Northumbria University in 2019 with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy. Since qualifying, she has gained a wide range of clinical experience across both adult and paediatric physiotherapy, including working within a Paediatric Musculoskeletal (MSK) clinic at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, as well as completing clinical rotations at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.
Helen particularly enjoys the variety that comes with treating patients of all ages, from children and younger athletes through to adults returning to activity following injury or surgery. She has a particular interest in musculoskeletal, traumatic and sports-related injuries and is passionate about helping each patient achieve the best possible recovery. Her approach combines hands-on treatment with progressive, individually tailored rehabilitation, always taking into account what is most important to the patient and the activities they want to return to.
Sport has always been an important part of Helen’s life. She has competed at a high level in netball, swimming and rowing, giving her a first-hand understanding of the physical demands of training and competition, as well as the frustration that injury can cause. This background complements her clinical expertise and helps her understand the importance of building confidence as well as physical strength when returning to sport.
Helen has a particular interest in treating golfers and rowers. Her extensive sporting background gives her an excellent understanding of movement, biomechanics and the repetitive demands associated with these sports. As a keen golfer herself, she understands how even relatively minor musculoskeletal problems can affect technique, enjoyment and performance.
At Cheshire Physioactive, Helen enjoys making full use of our bespoke rehabilitation gym, allowing her to take patients from the early stages of recovery through to more advanced strengthening, conditioning and return to sport or everyday activity. She is known for her friendly, encouraging and supportive approach, helping patients feel comfortable and confident throughout their rehabilitation.
Helen is also undertaking additional Pilates training to further expand the services she can offer at Cheshire Physioactive. She is particularly excited about developing Mum and Baby Pilates classes in the near future, creating a welcoming and supportive environment where new mums can safely rebuild strength, movement and confidence following pregnancy and childbirth.
Outside the clinic, Helen continues to enjoy an active lifestyle, particularly playing golf, as well as spending time with family and friends. Her combination of clinical experience, sporting background and warm, patient-focused approach makes her a valued member of the Cheshire Physioactive team.
