Anthony Lyons-Martin
Rehabilitation Specialist
BSc, CSP Associate
Anthony graduated in 2009 with a BSc in Sport and Exercise Science and has since built extensive experience as a specialist Pilates instructor and one-to-one personal trainer, working across both commercial fitness and rehabilitation settings. He is a fully qualified Pilates instructor, with additional training in antenatal and postnatal Pilates.
Since joining Cheshire Physioactive, Anthony has developed and grown our specialist Pilates service into an important part of the rehabilitation and ongoing care we offer our patients. His expertise allows him to work confidently with people of all ages and abilities, including those with complex musculoskeletal conditions, long-term injuries, post-operative rehabilitation needs and reduced mobility.
Anthony has developed a unique approach to small-group Pilates, combining the individual attention of a one-to-one session with the relaxed and supportive atmosphere of a small class. With a maximum of just six people per session, each participant follows their own individually tailored programme, designed around their specific condition, rehabilitation goals and level of ability. This allows patients with very different needs to exercise safely alongside one another while still receiving close supervision and individual guidance.
Our patients consistently tell us how much they value feeling safe, supported and never under pressure. This highly personalised model is very different from a conventional Pilates class and provides a genuinely bespoke approach that is difficult to find elsewhere.
Sessions take place in our dedicated Pilates studio, which has been specifically designed and equipped to provide a welcoming, comfortable and professional environment for both rehabilitation and longer-term exercise. Anthony works closely with our physiotherapy team, allowing Pilates programmes to complement treatment and progress as each patient’s strength, mobility, confidence and function improve.
Whether Pilates is being used as part of recovery from injury or surgery, to manage a longstanding condition, or simply to maintain strength, mobility and physical wellbeing, Anthony’s aim is to help every individual exercise with confidence and achieve meaningful, sustainable progress.
Outside the clinic, Anthony enjoys spending time with his wife and young family, alongside maintaining his own fitness and training.
