My experience at Cheshire Physioactive Stretton Warrington Cheshire

I just wanted to share my experience whilst I’ve been attending Cheshire Physioactive as it has made such a difference to me and my health over the last two months.

I have had a historic hip problem for over 10 years, which I had basically learned to live with. Recently, though, I had a severe flare-up which really affected my mobility and resulted in a significant increase in pain. My consultant referred me to Fiona Kellett at Cheshire Physioactive , Warrington for on going treatment to aid my recovery.

It is quite a distance for me to drive as I live in Nantwich, but I decided that if this was my opportunity to improve my health and mobility, then it was a journey worth making.

From my very first appointment, Fiona listened to me, understood my problems and, most importantly, made me feel that there was a plan moving forward. My treatment has included physio every two weeks, shockwave therapy around the hip joint, deep tissue massage and muscle relaxation, alongside exercises to do at home.

Fiona is incredibly knowledgeable and experienced, particularly when it comes to pain management. She always makes sure that everything I do is within my own capabilities and range, which has given me so much confidence. I never feel pushed beyond what is right for me.

As part of my programme, Fiona also recommended that I try a Pilates class with Anthony also at Physio Active to help build my strength.

I have only been attending for eight weeks and I honestly can’t believe the difference.

This is like no other Pilates class I have ever attended. Anthony provides such a personal approach. He explains every movement clearly and helps you understand which areas of your body may be weak and need strengthening. There is no competition, no pressure and no feeling that you have to keep up with anyone else. It’s simply clear, straightforward instruction focused on helping you improve your mobility and strength. I feel like I have one to one tuition as Anthony engages and watches my positions to ensure I am comfortable and safe doing the exercise, I find this very reassuring.

I have learnt so much more than just Pilates. I’ve become much more aware of my body, how I move and how I can help myself outside of the sessions in everyday life. I am becoming much more mindful of my movement, and that has been incredibly valuable to me.

When I first started, I was quite nervous and lacked confidence because I was worried that I might hurt myself or make my hip worse. I now feel completely safe, and my confidence is growing week by week. Anthony is a fantastic teacher and I genuinely feel that I am in very safe hands.

My hip discomfort has improved, my strength has improved and, in such a short period of time, I’ve even started to notice a little more tone in my body.

Fiona and Anthony offer something really special. Their knowledge, experience and genuine care for their clients are obvious, but what I value most is the culture of safety, understanding and helping people to learn how to help themselves.

I truly love my sessions and wanted to share my experience for anyone who may be looking for people they can trust with their health. Finding that trust is so important, but being able to enjoy the process makes such a difference too.

I hope my story is helpful to anyone who may be considering Cheshire Physioactive.

I feel more confident in my drive to improve my bone health and stability

Being unexpectedly diagnosed with osteoporosis in November 2025 was a shock! but finding out by text and receiving little to no support from my doctor made it unnecessarily daunting and scary. The worst part about it is the realisation that my experience is typical.

I was at least sent a link to the Osteoporosis Society website, a charity run organisation formed to provide research help and advice to newly diagnosed and those living with the condition.

This was a godsend and I have used the specialist nurse telephone service and attended the group sessions to find out as much information as I can to help myself best manage the condition.

The osteoporosis society stress the importance of keeping active by walking, weightbearing and resistance exercises that build muscle and support bone health. But they cannot be specific as to how much is safe, especially in relation to how much is safe to lift.

Overwhelmed with nowhere to turn, I decided to seek advice from my physiotherapist at Cheshire Physioactive – Physiotherapy and Injury Rehabilitation Centre – Fiona Kellett.

Fiona with her extensive knowledge, expertise and understanding reassuringly explained everything to me and advised that I could be supported within the rehabilitation centre to manage exercise and build strength safely.

First were Pilates sessions to build resistance and muscle strength. I am hypermobile so this was factored in to avoid injury.

Next were weightbearing exercises – I was set up with a bespoke daily routine of weightbearing exercises to do at home and shown how to do them safely.

I highly recommend the services Cheshire Physioactive provide in the management of Osteopenia Osteoporosis, and hypermobility, it has made a considerable difference to me. I exercise safely in excellent facilities with professional highly trained staff like Anthony who run the Pilates classes. It has made me feel more confident in my drive to improve my bone health and stability.

One of the best decisions I’ve made for my fitness

I’ve been attending Ben’s circuit training classes at Cheshire Physioactive for about a year and they’ve been one of the best decisions I’ve made for my fitness. Ben is knowledgeable, approachable and genuinely likeable, which creates a relaxed atmosphere while still motivating everyone to work hard. The sessions are tailored to the people in the group rather than being one-size-fits-all, and he consistently gets more out of me than I would ever push myself to achieve on my own in the gym.

What I value most, though, is the confidence that comes from training under Ben’s guidance. In the past I’ve strained myself several times at the gym through poor technique and posture, but having Ben coaching and correcting my form means I can focus on working out without worrying about injuring myself. It’s the combination of expert coaching, personal attention and encouragement that makes these small-group classes so effective, and I’d recommend them to anyone looking to improve their fitness safely.

It’s like going to the gym, but without the pressure or intimidation

Ben’s circuit class combines muscle strengthening, joint mobility, and cardio, with each workout adapted to my individual needs and goals on a weekly basis. It’s like going to the gym, but without the pressure or intimidation. Ben is knowledgeable, fun, and engaging, and he knows exactly how to keep sessions both effective and enjoyable. These sessions complement the Pilates I’ve been doing for years, helping me build strength and improve my overall fitness. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a supportive, personalised approach to exercise.

What really sets Cheshire Physioactive apart is the combination of expert clinical care with a warm, friendly and supportive atmosphere.

From the moment I started treatment at Cheshire Physioactive, I have always felt completely safe, supported and confident in the care I have received. Fiona has built a superb team of highly skilled, knowledgeable and caring professionals, and it is clear that everyone genuinely enjoys their work and is passionate about helping patients achieve the best possible outcomes.

The clinical team are exceptionally professional, approachable and highly responsive, and I have always felt that my individual needs are listened to and understood. It is incredibly reassuring to know that help and advice are always available when needed.

The reception team are equally fantastic. They are friendly, welcoming and efficient, and nothing ever feels like too much trouble. From arranging appointments to answering queries, they provide an excellent level of support and make every visit feel personal and well organised.

What really sets Cheshire Physioactive apart is the combination of expert clinical care with a warm, friendly and supportive atmosphere. Fiona has clearly worked hard to create a team that genuinely cares about its patients, and this comes across in everything they do.

I have recommended Cheshire Physioactive to all my friends and family and would have absolutely no hesitation in continuing to do so. I feel very fortunate to have access to such an excellent team and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for expert, personalised physiotherapy and outstanding patient care.

Cheshire Physioactive has been a game changer for me and Fiona and her team are worth their weight in gold

Cheshire Physioactive had come highly recommended by a GP having effectively been dumped on the NHS scrap heap following multiple surgeries, NHS physios and years of agony. I suffer from degenerative spine disease amongst other injuries and live in chronic pain. Sadly all the NHS and their “computer says no/what we can’t do for you attitude” had failed me leaving me stuck on a seemingly never ending waiting list for neck fusion surgery and taking enough nerve meds and strong painkillers that would just put me to sleep with absolutely no quality of life whatsoever . From pregabalin , tramadol , morphine patches , codeine, baclofen , naproxen , cuddly toy , kitchen sink – Pretty much the entire BNF it felt like.

I first met Fiona over year ago and she’s been working with me regularly since. Initially my nerves were trapped in bulging discs in my neck and spine. The pain was excruciating from my neck particularly through my left trapz , shoulder, down my arm through the elbow into my fingers which left them numb and tingling. My forearm felt like it was on fire and the rest of the sciatic pain like a constant electric shock, leaving that side very weak . I’d had multiple surgeries in the past and I desperately didn’t want to have the neck fusion surgery if avoidable but it was looking like the last available option.

Fee has been incredible from day one , the consummate professional in her field, empathetic , caring and honest. Whilst no one can ultimately change my stars due to the nature of the illness , Fiona has certainly realigned many of them. I can genuinely say my pain levels are 80% better from when I first hobbled through the door with far less medication. I’m beginning to get some quality of life back after years being effectively bed bound. I can see light at the end of the tunnel now. In addition to this Fee’s got a very grounded dry Scottish sense of humour and it’s fair to say is a high level Bantersaurous Rex so you’ll leave with a smile even on your darkest of days.

Likewise from the moment you walk in and are greeted by the ladies on reception and Jane the office manager – everyone is kind , nothing is too much trouble and your health and wellbeing really matters to them as does your privacy. Cheshire Physioactive has been a game changer for me and Fiona and her team are worth their weight in gold.

I now look forward to the next stage of my journey in unison working with Ben the rehabilitation specialist to work on my strength and conditioning. I didn’t think I could get this far and it’s another step towards get my freedom and life back. A huge thank you to you all for everything you’ve done for me and long may the progression continue.

Fiona and the team provide expert treatment and advice from state of the art facilities

Fiona and the team provide expert treatment and advice from state of the art facilities. If there was option to give 6 stars – I’d choose it! I also really value their holistic approach to therapy with tailored rehabilitation, Pilates, yoga and circuit training on top of the core physio service. I was referred by my surgeon to Fiona in preference to the hospitals own private physio practice 3 years ago and I’ve been part of the friendly and supportive Cheshire Physioactive family ever since!

Couldn’t be happier with my experience

I have just returned from an amazing physio session with Will one of the physiotherapists. I contacted them on Sunday with back pain hoping they would pick up my enquiry when they opened on Monday. I was contacted Sunday evening and an appointment was made for the following day. After a thorough review of my issue I received some massage therapy followed by a detailed set of exercises to continue at home. No pressure selling techniques to pay for a programme. Advice was given as to how to proceed with recovery at home, how to strengthen my back to prevent future incidents and a reassurance that they are there to help if still needed in he near future. The pain has decreased massively and couldn’t be happier with my experience.
